Magnificent ritual

If you have ever been in Bali, it is impossible if you don't know anything about sesajen. It's everywhere! At the pedestrian, at local store, at the temple, in the restaurant, at the beach, in your hotel room, and many more. And it comes out with various sizes. Ritual offerings or Sesajen is a magnificent ritual of Hinduism. Hindu is the most professed religion in Bali.

"The majority of the Bali population holds Balinese Hindu religion. Hinduism in Bali is slightly different with the Hinduism in India, and called Hindu Bali. Balinese very attached with the Balinese Hindu religion. This is shown by the number of ritual offerings (sesajen) and statues along Bali.

Balinese Hindu community has a philosophy of life known as the Tri Hita Karana, which means three roads toward perfection of life. Three roads toward the perfection can be achieved by maintaining the relationship between man and God that poured through the various ritual offerings to God, through human relationship with the natural surroundings, and through human relationships with other fellow human beings.  Above philosophy become the reason why in Bali there are so many shrines (pura), namely as a means to build relationships between people and God.

Even if the community is inherent with the Balinese Hindu culture, but the community also open to other cultures. Balinese community tends to appreciate the cultural diversity that exists in Indonesia, even in the world."

Well, Bali has a lot of unique tradition. Moreover, Bali has numerous culture. Let's name it, Barong dance, Kecak dance, Pendet dance, and lot of traditional ceremony.

And I overheard that we must not step on the Sesajen. I don't know why, but... There are some rumors and it is said, "If you accidentally stepped on sesajen, then you will get bad karma."
It is just a legend, but who knows? So then, be careful with sesajen! Because sesajen are scattered everywhere at Bali.
